Casinos are always looking for games that attract new players while keeping veteran gamblers engaged. Roll to Win Craps, developed by Aruze Gaming, adds cutting-edge technology to the iconic casino attraction.

“Roll to Win Craps is the only game on the market that lets players shoot traditional live dice while placing all their bets electronically on a traditional craps layout,” said Laura Sims, manager of product management and sales promotion for Aruze.

Currently located in roughly 40 casinos across the country, Roll to Win Craps was recently installed at Harrah’s Las Vegas, the first casino on the Strip to feature the game. It marked the ninth Caesar’s Entertainment property that offers the game.

A spokesman from Caesar’s declined to comment about the addition to Harrah’s Las Vegas.

Craps is one of the oldest betting games in the world, supposedly dating back to the Roman Empire when soldiers would roll the knucklebones of pigs and use shields as tables.

Featured in movies including “Guys and Dolls,” “Diamonds are Forever,” and “The Cooler,” craps is embraced by diehard gamblers because of its communal aspect and bets such as the pass line, where the house edge is among the lowest (1.4%) of all casino games.

Sims noted that craps may be the most intimidating table game for new players because of the large number of possible bets that can be hard to remember. But Roll to Win “Easy Help” features permit players to “touch any bet” on a screen to see the odds, when bets can be placed, and how the bet wins.

For veteran players, “Roll to Win Craps makes it easier to place favorite bets quickly, and to turn bets on or off,” Sims said. “Because wins are calculated automatically, players can also place bets in odd amounts that would be discouraged on a traditional table.”

Players interact with the game as if they are at a traditional table. Dice are still rolled, but bets are placed using touch screens. Because no chips are in play, and players have individual stations, Roll to Win Craps fits into the contactless model casinos have adopted because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The player stations can be wiped down and sanitized between players,” Sims said. “The dealer no longer handles chips or cash. Only the dice are handled by both players and dealers.”

Sims added that it’s up to casinos to decide when to sanitize dice.

“The same procedure they are using for dice at their traditional tables applies to Roll to Win Craps as well,” she said.
