Responsible and problem gambling provider iProtekt Thursday announced the launch of its first product, iPulse. Designed to provide mobile sports betting and online casino provider with a means to identify problem gambling behavior, iProtekt leverages data including deposits, withdrawals, bet sizes, and total number of bets, and issues a weighted risk score that can identify if a player’s behavior indicates problem gambling.

“As the U.S. online gambling market matures, the data exists to truly help identify where players are exhibiting challenges with their gambling behavior,” said iProtekt Co-Founder and Co-CEO Michael Borukhov in a statement. “The impetus behind iProtekt and iPulse was to build a best-in-class product to address the opportunity to help people. As a gambler, I built iPulse to understand when my gambling was responsible and when it teetered on the edge – which is exactly what our proprietary algorithm provides.”

Regulators in states including New Jersey and Colorado have adopted mandates requiring player data and technology to provide triggers indicating potential problem gaming issues. iPulse is the result of those mandates, providing operators with a credible third-party solution to identify behaviors showing that a player is struggling to wager responsibly.

Through a proprietary algorithm, iPulse creates a risk score on a sliding scale, ranging from low risk to full-tilt behavior. Operators may leverage that data through their own risk solutions to identify appropriate interventions.

“iPulse is designed first and foremost to be an operator-focused solution,” said iProtekt Co-Founder and Co-CEO Bryan Price. “To help shape iPulse, we had conversations with many U.S. online gaming companies to understand their needs and desires around providing solutions to help understand problematic play.”

Price and Borukov are also the founders of the daily fantasy sports operator Pick Perfect. The company is based in Denver, Colorado.
