Pennsylvania: State posts record revenue of $574.5 million in March

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Monday reported that March revenue from all forms of gaming was $574.5 million, a record in the Commonwealth. The previous high month total was $554.6 million in March 2024.

In a news release, the PGCB highlighted the increase in igaming revenue to $238.2 million, a 24.7% increase year-over-year. The record-setting igaming total eclipsed the previous high igaming revenue total of $223.6 set in December.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville led all Pennsylvania operators with revenue of $107.2 million, a year-over-year increase of 21.5%. Valley Forge Casino Resort generated $86.2 million, a decrease of 2% compared to March 2024, and Parx Casino in Philadelphia accumulated $58.8 million (a 1% decrease), barely edging out Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s $58.7 million, which had a year-over-year increase of 7.8%.

Revenue from slot games was $222.5 million, a year-over-year decrease of 2.8%. Parx Casino in Philadelphia brought in $34.3 million, a minimal increase of 0.19%. Wind Creek Bethlehem reported $25.8 million, a decrease of 5.8%, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $24.3 million, down 3.6% compared to March 2024.

The increase in igaming revenue was bolstered by large increases from three operators. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course generated $90.7 million in revenue, a 25.5% increase. Valley Forgee Casino Resort reported $64.8 million, up 27.4%, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $38.6 million, up 17.9%.

Sports betting revenue reached $27 million from a handle of $842.8 million, down 40.7% in comparison to March 2024. Valley Forge Casino Resort reported revenue of $9.4 million from a handle of $328.5 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands generated $8.8 million with a handle of $209.1 million, and Hollywood Casino Morgantown posted revenue of $1.9 million based on a handle of $78.2 million.
