The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported record tax revenue for fiscal year 2022/2023 of $2.3 billion, from gaming revenue of $5.5 billion. That’s the most in the Keystone State since 2021/2022, when gaming revenue of $5.04 billion yielded tax revenue of $2.16 billion.
Pennsylvania legalized gambling in 2010, and the first fiscal year (2010/2011) yielded total gaming revenue of $2.8 billion.
For fiscal year 2022/2023, revenue from casino slots machines was $2.5 billion, with Parx Casino in Philadelphia the top revenue generator with $389.9 million.
Table game revenue for 2022/2023 was $974.0 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem led all Pennsylvania casinos with $236.7 million in table game revenue.
Total igaming revenue for the fiscal year was $1.5 billion, another record. Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville generated $648 million in igaming revenue, nearly twice as much as the $330.8 million brought in by Rivers Casino Philadelphia.
Sports wagering revenue for 2022/2023 reached $491.9 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia generated revenue of $255.4 million from sports betting more than twice as much as the next highest generator, Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands, which reached $109.9 million in sports betting revenue.
