Members of the Rivers Gives team from Rivers Casino Wednesday assisted in preparing ready-to-go meals for the Community Kitchen Pittsburgh.

The volunteers donated three hours of their time at the facility in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood.

“We’re always appreciative to have support from the Rivers Gives volunteers,” said Community Kitchen Pittsburgh Executive Director and Founder Jennifer Flanagan in a statement. “They arrive energized and work shoulder to shoulder with our team.”

According to a press release, Community Kitchen Pittsburgh operates with the idea that anyone who enters its doors is inherently worthy and has the potential to reach and exceed their goals, regardless of their past or present. The nonprofit organization works to provide opportunities for success and careers to its clients.

“Working alongside Community Kitchen Pittsburgh is always a rewarding experience,” said Rivers Casino Director of Community Relations Dr. Rahmon Hart. “When you can help people achieve new career and personal growth goals, which Community Kitchen Pittsburgh does every single day, that’s a win.”

Rivers Gives is the casino’s community outreach program, where casino staffers report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. In July, Rivers Gives volunteers visited The Woodlands in Wexford section of Pittsburgh to help with campus maintenance and outdoor upkeep initiatives.
