Rivers Casino Pittsburgh team members Thursday are volunteering at the Community Kitchen Pittsburgh in the city’s Hazelwood neighborhood. The volunteers, members of the casino’s Rivers Gives program, will package ready-to-go meals for youths facing hardships.
“We’re truly grateful for our continued partnership with Community Kitchen,” said Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Director of Community Relations Dr. Rahmon Hart in a statement. “The impact of their work goes beyond providing food; CKP nourishes the spirit of our community. We’re thrilled to contribute to their mission.”
According to a release, Community Kitchen Pittsburgh’s mission is to use food to change lives and strengthen communities by providing culinary training and career pathways to individuals experiencing barriers to employment.
“We are excited to work alongside the Rivers Gives team,” said Community Kitchen Pittsburgh Executive Director Jennifer Flanagan. “The time, enthusiasm and energy contributed by volunteers from the casino are always appreciated.”
Rivers Gives is the casino’s community outreach program in which casino staffers work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. In January, Rivers Gives volunteers worked with Northside Common Ministries assisting with food preparation and distribution.
