Pennsylvania sports bettors are gambling more than ever.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Friday reported that its sports betting handle in October topped $800 million for the first time. The $829 handle yielded revenue of $48.1 million, an 18.8% increase over October 2022.
Other forms of gambling were similarly robust, with the Keystone State generating $483 million in October, a year-over-year increase of 7.28%.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville led Pennsylvania with gaming revenue of $77.2 million, a 12.3% increase compared to October 2022. Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia followed with $64.4 million in gaming revenue, a year-over-year increase of 14%, and Park Casino in Philadelphia posted revenue of $53.6 million, a year-over-decrease of 2.3%.
Slot revenue in October dropped across the board compared to October 2022, reaching $192.5 million, a decrease of 3.28% compared to the same time period in 2022. Parx Casino topped all casinos in Pennsylvania with slot revenue of $30.2 million, a year-over-year decrease of 5.37%. Wind Creek Bethlehem generated slot revenue of $21.8 million, also a decrease of 2.6%, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $21.7 million, a decrease of 3.79%.
In October, igaming revenue totaled $154.8 million. Hollywood Casino at Penn National once again led in igaming revenue, bringing in $62.2 million, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $35.4 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $29.3 million.
The record sports betting was led by Valley Forge Casino Resorts $328.4 million handle that yielded revenue of $18.2 million. But Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands generated the most sports betting revenue with $18.9 million based on a handle of $258.3 million. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s revenue of $2.3 million was from a handle of $33.5 million, while Hollywood Casino Morgantown’s $53.8 million handle yielded a mere $1.9 million in revenue.
