Pennsylvania gaming revenue in August was $582.3 million, second best month ever

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Thursday reported revenue from all forms of gaming and fantasy contests during August was $582.3 million, up 14.1% from August 2024, and is the state’s second-highest monthly revenue, surpassed only by May, which totaled $601.8 million.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville topped all state operators, generating $101.3 million in August, up 15.5% from August 2024’s $87.7 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia reported revenue of $98.6 million compared to $70.8 million last year, an increase of 39.3%. Parx Casino in Philadelphia posted $58.2 million, up 8.4% from the $53.9 million generated in August 2024.

Revenue from slots reached $216.6 million, an increase of 2.6%. Parx Casino led all Pennsylvania operators in slot revenue, generating $33.5 million compared to the $30.6 million reported in August 2024, an increase of 2.5% year-over-year. Wind Creek Bethlehem’s revenue from slots was $24.8 million, a year-over-year drop of 1.3% compared to August 2024’s total of $25.2 million.  Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $22.3 million, a year-over-year increase of 0.9% from $22 million accumulated in 2024.

The state reported igaming revenue of $231.2 million, a 25.8% increase from August 2024. Revenue was led by Hollywood Casino at Penn National’s $85.4 million, an increase of 18.5% year-over-year. Valley Forge Casino Resort reached igaming revenue of $67.6 million, a jump of 47.1%, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $36.6 million in igaming revenue, up 18.5%.

Sports wagering across the state generated $49.2 million based on a handle of $515.4 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort reported August sports betting revenue of $18.7 million from a handle of $171.7 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands generated revenue of $12.3 million from a handle of $147.2 million. Hollywood Casino York posted revenue of $3.6 million from a handle of $41. 3 million.
