The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved a consent agreement this week that resulted in a $100,000 levy against Stadium Casino RE, operator of Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia. The PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel determined that the operator had taken sports wagers by phone.
According to the Office of Enforcement Counsel, several team members from Live! Casino’s sportsbook accepted and placed wagers totaling $287,421 over an eight-day period for a patron not present in the casino. The bets, known as proxy wagers, aren’t permitted by the PGCB and the Pennsylvania Gaming Act prohibits knowingly accepting a wager by any person other than the person making the bet.
The Live! Casino Sportsbook employees who accepted and placed the wagers were terminated and the PGCB revoked their gaming licenses. The patron was placed on the PGCB’s Involuntary Exclusion list and can no longer gamble in Pennsylvania.
The PGCB also took action to deny the removal of two people previously placed on the Involuntary Exclusion List. The individuals were placed on the list for incidents in 2019 and 2022 for leaving minors unattended in a vehicle while gambling in a casino.
