For more than three decades, employees of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) have participated in fundraising drives that allow them to support causes that are close to their hearts and get involved with the community.
One of the main fundraising activities that OLG staff has been participating in involves the Federated Health Charities, a workplace charity campaign that allows employees of the Ontario Public Service (OPS) to raise funds in support of 21 charities across Ontario.
The OLG kicked off its annual fundraising events for 2024 earlier this month, with President and CEO Duncan Hannay and the OLG executive leadership team coming together to support the cause. Funds are raised through payroll pledges, special events, charitable lotteries, and other donations.
“Our Volunteer Programs Manager, Barb Davis, worked with over 35 volunteers from throughout our organization to raise these funds through auctions, special events, and payroll giving,” Catherine Meade, OLG’s Vice President of Community, Sustainability & Social Responsibility told CDC Gaming.
This week, the OLG announced that the Federated Health campaign and team member donations raised over CA$66,000 (US$48,000) for the charities, exceeding the company’s target. “A heartfelt thank you to our many volunteers and everyone who donated – you made this year’s campaign another huge success,” the OLG said on LinkedIn.
“Our goal was $50,000, and we raised $66,911! I am so proud that, with this year’s contribution, OLG employees have raised a total of $2,829,728 for Federated Health Charities since 2011,” added Meade. “One of OLG’s Five Truths is, ‘We care for Ontario.’ Highly successful charitable campaigns like this one demonstrate that we genuinely care for the people of our province.”
