Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced they’ve made $40,331,124 in payments to 29 communities that host gaming facilities during the second quarter (July 1-Sept. 30). So far during OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024), these 29 communities have received $83,865,131, the OLG also said in a statement.

These communities receive a share of revenues under a formula that’s the same across the province.  The payments are based on a graduated scale of slot-machine revenue, plus and a share of table-game and sportsbook revenue for those sites that offer those services.

Under the agreement, municipalities receive 5.25 percent on the first $65 million of slot revenue, 3.0 percent on the next $135 million of slot revenue, 2.5 percent on the next $300 million of slot revenue, 0.5 percent on the slot revenue above $500 million, and 4.0 percent of table game revenue (if applicable), and 4.0 percent of sportsbook revenue (if applicable).

“Municipality Contribution Agreement payments help these municipalities fund priorities, such as community infrastructure, parks and recreation, and local healthcare facilities, benefiting families and local residents,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, minister of finance, in a statement.

Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
