The Cherokee Nation Businesses has announced that they are closing all nine of their casinos across Oklahoma in an effort to help conserve power.
The announcement comes after multiple utility companies falling under the control of Southwest Power Pool (SPP) said they are running low on energy supply.
The Cherokee Nation said they started the closures at 5 p.m. Monday and plan on reopening on Wednesday at 1 p.m. but could change depending on weather and energy conditions.
Temporary operational shutdowns reportedly include all nine Cherokee Casino properties, Hard Rock Tulsa and other business, retail and cultural sites.
