Ohio casinos and racinos posted a combined $211.2 million in July, a 17% increase over a record-setting 2020.
The state’s four casinos in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo posted $90.5 million in revenue, an increase of 5%. Hollywood Casino Columbus led the four casinos with $24.0 million in revenue, closely followed by Jack Cleveland with $23.6 million, an increase of 33% and 30% respectively.
Strong performances by the other casinos were offset by Hollywood Toledo, the only property to report a year over year drop in revenue. The 36% drop follows July 2020’s record-breaking single-casino revenue of $33.3 million when the three Detroit casinos one hour away were still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ohio’s seven racinos rocketed to $120.7 million, a jump of 27%. MGM’s Northfield Park was the highest revenue generating property of any type for July with a net win of $24.7 million, an increase of 32% over 2020’s $18.8 million. Eldorado’s Scioto Downs was second with $21.0 million, an increase of 25%.
