The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) Tuesday announced it’s seeking nominees for two major awards.

Nominations are now being accepted for the Jens Halle Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Commercial Gaming Professionalism and the Peter Mead Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Gaming Media & Communications. The awards were created six years ago by AGEM to honor the two longtime industry veterans who passed away in 2015.

Halle worked as an executive with Bally’s Corporation and Novamatic in Europe. He was the CEO of Merkur Gaming in Florida when he died at the age of 57.  The founder and publisher of Casino Enterprise Management magazine, Mead was 54 when he passed away in Las Vegas.

For the Jens Halle Memorial Award, nominees must have at least 10 years of experience in the global gaming-supplier sector. They also must embody Halle’s traits, including professionalism, business success, international scope, and attention to detail.

The Peter Mead Memorial Award nominees must have 10 years of experience working in the mainstream media, gaming trade press, or gaming company public relations or communications. They also must, like Mead, possess the ability to file quality reports and communications emphasizing personal contact to generate ideas and gather information, be able to identify trusted partners, and challenge the industry to consider new ideas.

Nominations should be between 300 and 700 words, must illustrate the criteria for each award, and be sent via email to Marcus.Prater@AGEM.org by Aug. 31, 2021.

Past winners of the Jens Halle Memorial Award were Len Ainsworth (2016), Rick Meitzler (2017), Gavin Isaacs (2018), Tom Nieman (2019), and the late Robert “Bob” McMonigle in 2020. Howard Stutz (2016), Roger Gros (2017), Frank Legato (2018), the late Dave Palermo (2019), and David Orrick (2020) were the initial recipients of the Peter Mead Memorial Award.

Award winners will be announced in October at G2E in Las Vegas.
