The new chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Mike Dreitzer, made his first public appearance in his new position Thursday when he spoke at the end of the Nevada Gaming Commission meeting.

Dreitzer took over the role from Kirk Hendrick, who stepped down from his position last week after more than 2½ years in the role.

Dreitzer most recently served as the CEO of Gaming Arts LLC, a gaming-equipment supplier with more than 150 gaming licenses.

“I want to thank you all for your warm welcome,” Dreitzer said. “This is an august body, and I look forward to working alongside each of you.”

Dreitzer thanked Hendrick for his “exceptional service” to the state of Nevada as Board chair and with the attorney general’s office.“Kirk accomplished so much for the state and his are truly big shoes to fill.”

Commissioner Brian Krolicki agreed with Dreitzer’s comment about the shoes, but had no doubt that he’ll fill them “wonderfully and ably.”

Commission Chair Jennifer Togliatti welcomed Dreitzer and cited his distinguished career spanning gaming law, regulatory compliance, and executive experience.

“Our new chairman brings a deep understanding of public and private sectors and gaming regulation as a deputy attorney general and his extensive industry experience position him uniquely to lead the Board through this chapter of innovation and regulatory excellence. We appreciate you willing to undertake such an incredible challenge and welcome you aboard on behalf of myself and fellow commissioners.”

The next Board meeting will be held in Carson City on July 9, with seven items on the non-restricted agenda.
