A Gilley’s-branded slot parlor will open near Wichita in December. It was announced on August 20.
Phil Ruffin, owner of Treasure Island and Circus Circus in Las Vegas, is behind the concept, which will be located in Park City, Kansas. Ruffin says Park City is “guaranteed to be the best entertainment destination in the region.”
In addition to historical horse racing machines, Gilley’s is slated to feature a racebook, sports bar, and arcade with golf simulators, bowling, and more. There will also be a Gilley’s Saloon & Dance Hall that is partly open-air in design.
“I have been a personal friend of Mickey Gilley and family since the early 1990s and it led me to bring the Gilley’s experience to Las Vegas,” said Ruffin, referring to the country & western bar at Treasure Island on the Las Vegas Strip. “Now, with his wife Cindy Gilley leading the company, I’m bringing the iconic brand to Park City.”
“This is a full-blown destination,” said General Manager Tim Merrill of the forthcoming Gilley’s. “Whether you’re chasing jackpots, dancing the night away, or just kicking back with great barbecue and a cold one, this is the place for you.”
Added Park City Mayor John Lehnherr, “We’re fortunate that Gilley’s is calling Park City home. Here, there are equal parts of people going out of Park City each day as there are people coming into the city. Gilley’s will be a place where everyone will feel welcome and find their spot.”
Gilley’s will be 10 miles north of Wichita at 1500 East 77th Street in Park City. It will be a component of what Ruffin’s company describes as “a new, vibrant, entertainment destination comprising more than a dozen distinct restaurant and entertainment concepts under one roof.” It will be the sixth Gilley’s-branded location in the United States.
