Ray Pineault was introduced Wednesday as the new president and CEO of Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.
Pineault, a Mohegan Tribal member, assumes his duties immediately. He’s served as acting CEO for the gaming operator since March 31, 2021.
“We are tremendously lucky to have someone of Ray’s caliber, experience and intellect taking on this role,” said Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe and MGE Management Board James Gessner, Jr., in a statement. “His grasp of our organization and all its moving parts across nine worldwide properties is unmatched. Having someone with these abilities come from within our Tribal membership makes this day all the more meaningful. Today is a proud day for the Mohegan Nation.”
Pineault replaces Mario Kontomerkos, who left the company in March.
Pineault has served the Mohegan Tribe for 20 years. His resume includes stints as president and general manager of the Mohegan Sun Connecticut, and as chief operating officer of Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.
“I have dedicated my career to ensuring the success of Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, and I look forward to the immense growth, development and accomplishments we will achieve in this next chapter together,” Pineault said in a statement. “I am grateful to the Mohegan Tribe for this opportunity and will work tirelessly to uphold our values and traditions, both here in the United States and in the communities around the world in which we operate.”
Mohegan Gaming owns its flagship Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut, and the Mohegan Sun Poconos in Pennsylvania. The company manages gaming operations for Resorts Atlantic City; Indian casinos in Washington and Louisiana on behalf of other tribes; and the Fallsview Casino Resort on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.
Mohegan also is developing a planned $5 billion resort at Incheon International Airport in South Korea. The company has bid on a potential integrated resort license for the former Hellenikon International Airport near Athens, Greece.
Pineault will be responsible for MGE’s global vision and strategy, its culture, values and behavior, selecting an executive team, and allocation of capital. He will also drive the operational results of all MGE owned and affiliated properties.
