Missouri: Gaming revenue in July increases at riverboat casinos

Riverboat casinos in Missouri generated revenue of $167.4 million in July, according to a report issued Tuesday by the Missouri Gaming Commission. That’s an increase of 26.7% from the $132.1 million reported in July 2019. In 2020, brick-and-mortar casinos were affected by restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Slot revenue for July was $145.0 million, a 26.4% increase. Table games generated $22.2 million in revenue, an increase of 27.4%.

The four casinos that comprise the St. Louis market – Hollywood Casino St. Louis, River City Casino & Hotel in Lemay, Lumiere Place Casino & Hotel in St. Louis, and the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles – combined as the state’s top revenue generators, bringing in $80.7 million.

Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa in Riverside, Harrah’s North Kansas City, Casino KC, and Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kanas City — the Kansas City market — was responsible for $59.8 million in revenue. The Out State Markets — Century Casino Caruthersville, St. Jo Frontier Casino in St. Joseph, Mark Twain Casino in La Grange, the Isle of Capri in Boonville and Century Casino Cape Girardeau – generated $27.8 million.

Ameristar Casino in St. Charles produced the most revenue in Missouri in July, up 20.6% to $21.4 million. River City Casino & Hotel in St. Louis brought in 17.8 million, a 34.5% increase.

Other top revenue generators in the state include Hollywood Casino St. Louis, with a 30.4% increase to $16.8 million, and Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City, $16.1 million, a jump of 33.3% from the previous year.

Also, Argosy Riverside Casino Hotel generated $13.5 million, 16.1% higher than in June 2019. Lumiere Place Casino Hotel in St. Louis had $13.5 million in revenue, a bump of 25.9%.
