Peggy Richardson, the first woman and eighth overall executive director in MGC history, announced her retirement last week. She is leaving her position to enjoy time with her family and friends.
In her resignation letter to the Commission Richardson stated, “While I have appreciated the incredible opportunity to lead this organization, I have decided to retire as of June 1, 2024. In the past several months I have been reminded that every day is a gift and, quite frankly, I have a lot of things on my bucket list that I want to get done. Besides, if you never step aside, no one else ever gets to step up. You can be assured that I will remain fully committed to the Missouri Gaming Commission and will do all I can to make my successor’s transition as smooth as possible.”
Richardson began her duties May 14, 2021. The Commission is taking applications to fill the vacancy from April 1 through May 1, 2024.
Missouri has a robust casino industry, mainly bordering neighboring states, and recently introduced two bills to legalize sports betting and VLTs.
