Mississippi’s 26 commercial casinos generated $215.5 million in revenue last month, up from the previous year’s $209.7 million, a year-over-year increase of 2.8%.
The figures, published by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, show that of the three casino regions, only one reported a year-over-year increase.
The state’s Coastal casinos reported the highest revenue of $142.3 million, up 6.1%, the greatest year-over-year increase last month, rising from $134.2 million. Slots for the region recorded $115.8 million, up 2.2%, and table games generated $23.1 million, up 28.7% year-over-year.
Mississippi’s Northern casinos reported $46.1 million in revenue, the second-highest in the state. This figure was down 3%, with revenues declining from $47.6 million to $46.1 million year-over-year. Table games also dropped 15.8%, while slot games declined 0.3% year-over-year.
Central casinos generated the lowest combined revenue last month, recording $27.1 million, down 2.9% from $27.9 million. Slot revenue declined to $23.6 million, a 3.7% drop, while table games decreased 20.5% year-over-year.
Total slot revenue remained steady in August, rising 0.8% year-over-year to $177.2 million, while table games were up 12.8%, increasing from $27.5 million to $31 million.
