Mississippi casinos reported a combined total of $223.6 million in gross gaming revenue for May, up 6.7% compared to the previous year’s $209.6 million.
The figures, published by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, show that the state’s coastal region generated the highest revenue of the month, reporting $143 millio, up 4.8%, up from last May’s $136.5 million. The Coastal region accounted for 63% of the combined revenue.
The northern region contributed $51.4 million, up 12.9% from $45.6 million, and the central region generated $29.2 million, up 5.9% from $27.6 million.
May’s revenue figure also was 15.6% higher than the $195.6 million earned in April.
The positive revenue figures come just a few days after the Mississippi Gaming Commission issued cease-and-desist letters to ten gambling platforms that are operating illegally within the state.
