Mississippi casinos produced revenues of $185.4 million in January, up 2.8 percent from January 2024 but down 7.7 from December.
The Mississippi Gaming Commission splits its report into three regions – Central, Coastal and Northern. Central was the most significant contributor, adding $121.4 million in January revenues, accounting for more than 65 percent. The $121.4 million revenue total slightly increased less than 0.5 percent from the prior year.
Revenues in the Northern region hit $38.8 million, up 6.9 percent from the $36.3 million collected in January 2024. Revenues in the Central region increased from $23 million in January 2024 to $25 million in January 2025, up 8.8 percent.
Most of Mississippi casino revenue was generated by slot machines, which collected $152.1 million across all three regions. Table games added $24 million.
Mississippi is planning to make significant changes to its gambling laws during the 2025 legislative session. The Senate has approved a ban on online sweepstakes, which now goes to the House.
The House and Senate are conflicting on gambling expansion, with HB 1302 looking to legalize online horse racing betting and sports pools, while SB 2510 is trying to enforce that these forms of gambling are illegal.
