Mississippi’s casinos reported $189.5 million in gross gaming revenue last month, down 8.3% compared to the previous year’s $206.6 million.

Mardi Gras is a huge attraction for the Gulf Coast and fell on March 4 this year rather than February 13 in 2024, making it a tough year-over-year comparison.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission also reported that slot revenue totaled $159.4 million in February, down 7.9% from $173.1 million a year earlier. Table games revenue reached $25.4 million, down 11.7% from $28.7 million.

Of Mississippi’s three regions, central, northern and coastal, coastal casinos generated the highest gaming revenue of the month, with $122.5 million. This was followed by Mississippi’s northern casinos, $40.3 million and central casinos, $26.6 million.

Each region experienced a revenue decline. Coastal casinos dropped from $131.4 million, a year-over-year decline of 6.8%; northern casinos fell from $47.3 million, a 14.6% drop; and central casinos decreased from $32.4 million, down 17.9%.

Mississippi sportsbooks‘ handle decreased by 2.6%, from $31.3 million to $30.5 million year-over-year. Taxable revenue also declined, dropping from $2.3 million in February 2024 to $1.3 million this February, down 43.6%.
