Gun Lake Casino Resort in Wayland, Michigan, is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a promotional opportunity for guests.
In February, Gun Lake will award two winners each week with $100 in free slot play, redeemable every week for the next 15 years.
“We are very proud to reach 15 great years of operation, and to celebrate we are awarding free slot play to two lucky winners each week in February, who will each get $100 of free slot play every week for the next 15 years,” Gun Lake Casino Resort Senior Vice President/General Brian Decorah said in a statement. “Since opening, the casino has shared $207 million in revenue with the state and local community. We proudly offer a highly competitive wage, benefit, and retirement package to our 1,500 team valued members. We strive every day to continue improving the quality of life in our region.”
Gun Lake Casino Resort opened on February 10, 2011. According to a news release, traffic was backed up from the property entrance to the northbound and southbound exit ramps of U.S. 131 causing a traffic jam on both sides of the interstate. The Gun Lake Tribe fought for more than a decade to clear legal and political hurdles before the casino opened.
Gun Lake Casino Resort has had several expansions. In March, a 16-story luxury hotel tower opened, with a full-service spa, new dining options, and meeting and event spaces.
The Wawyé Oasis opened in June, featuring a glass atrium that houses more than 32,000 square feet, live palm trees, more than 4,000 tropical plants set at a temperature of 80 degrees. An aquatic entertainment complex features adult and family pool areas, private cabanas and food and beverage service. Wawyé Oasis is also a venue for live concerts and entertainment.
