Gun Lake Casino contributed over $7.4 million to state entities in Michigan between October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022, according to its biannual report released Tuesday.

The total contributions are a slight increase from the $7.29 million distributed from October 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.

“Over the past eleven years, these payments have done immeasurable good for communities,” said Gun Lake Tribal Chairman Bob Peters in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to be good stewards for the local community and the state of Michigan for many years to come.”

The State of Michigan Strategic Fund, which awards grants to businesses in the state and creates jobs, will receive over $4.1 million. Since 2011, Gun Lake Casino has shared over $111 million with the strategic fund.

GLIMI, a non-gaming economic development organization with both Tribal and state oversight, will receive $1.2 million. GLIMI has received over $19.5 million since 2011.

The local revenue share board that benefits seven nearby townships will receive a little more than $2 million. Since 2011, over $42 million has been donated through the local revenue share board.

In May 2007 a compact between the State of Michigan and the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe) requires two percent of net win to be paid to a local  revenue sharing board.”
