Massachusetts’ December casino revenue drops year-over-year

Massachusetts commercial casinos produced $102.1 million in gaming revenue in December, nearly $1 million less than December 2023, when the state collected $103 million.

Out of the figures released by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, table games generated $32 million and slots generated $70 million. Encore Boston Harbor had the highest affect on gaming revenue for December, reaching more than $64.8 million, a 1 percent year-over-year decline from $65.8 million.

MGM Springfield generated the second-highest amount, posting $22.6 million in gaming revenue for the month, a $1 million decline compared to the previous year, when revenue reached more than $23.6 million in December 2023. Plainridge Park Casino, which generated $14.5 million in revenue, an increase from $13.5 million in December 2023.

Despite a year-over-year decrease in combined revenue, Bay State casinos reported a month-over-month increase in gaming revenue. Compared to November, gaming revenue increased by 1.3 percent, with Encore Boston Harbor reporting an increase of $1.7 million from November to December, generating a 2.8 percent rise in revenue.
