Massachusetts’ commercial casino revenue down 5.6% year-over-year in March

Massachusetts’ three regulated commercial casinos recorded gross gaming revenue of $105.1 million in March, down 5.6% from last year’s $111 million.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported that slot machines generated $76.6 million and table games produced $28.4 million.

MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino had their best March results since 2020. MGM Springfield took $25.5 million, improving on the previous best of $25.2 million for March 2024, up 1.2 percent. Plainridge Park showed the biggest percentage increase, reporting revenue of $16.5 million, compared to $15.4 million in March 2024, a year-over-year rise of 5.8%.

Encore Boston Harbor recorded revenue of $63 million, down 10.5% from last year and its lowest March figure since 2021.

Sportsbooks generated $10.6 million in wagers in March, down from $12.6 million last year. Combined sportsbook taxable revenue fell to $265,000 in March from $731,000 last year.
