The three commercial casinos in Massachusetts collected $102.1 million in gross gaming revenue in April from slots and table games, up 4.7% from April 2024 when casinos generated $97.4 million.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission report showed that slot gross gaming revenue hit $71.1 million in April, accounting for 69.6% of the total, up 7.9%. However, table game gross gaming revenue declined year-over-year, dropping from $31.6 million to $30.9 million.
Encore Boston Harbor generated the most gross gaming revenue, $63.4 million. Its slot gross gaming revenue increased year-over-year, but its table game numbers slipped slightly.
MGM Springfield saw its revenues rise year-over-year by 3.3%, again with its slot revenue increase leading this jump. Table game revenues fell from $4.6 million to $4 million.
Plainridge Park Casino only operates slot machines, but its revenues rose by 9.2% to $15.1 million.
As this casino is taxed at a higher percentage for only offering slot machines, 49% compared to 25% for the other two casinos, it contributed more to taxes than MGM Springfield. Plainridge Park Casino added $7.4 million in taxes, MGM Springfield $5.8 million, and Encore Boston Harbor $15.8 million.
