Massachusetts’ commercial casinos generated $97.7 million in revenue in June, a 1.7% rise from the $96.1 million in June 2024.
According to the numbers published by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, combined gross gaming revenue across the state’s three licensed casinos declined from May’s $105.4 million, a month-on-month drop of just less than 9%.
The year-over-year gain came despite a marginal decline at the state’s top-performing venue. Encore Boston Harbor, which typically generates the bulk of casino revenue in Massachusetts, saw its share drop slightly from 63% of the total in June 2024 to just less than 62% this year, and its revenue fell 0.2%, from $60.4 million to $60.2 million.
The state’s two other commercial casinos recorded solid growth. MGM Springfield, responsible for about 23% of June revenue, increased its revenue by 4.1%, rising from $21.9 million to $22.8 million. Plainridge Park Casino posted the most substantial year-over-year gain in percentage terms, climbing 5.9% to $14.6 million, up from $13.8 million in June 2024.
While the commercial gaming sector performed well in June, a tribal operation recently expanded its facilities with a license for alcoholic beverages at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s Taunton Casino Welcome Center.
