In an agenda-setting meeting, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission confirmed Bally Bet was delaying its proposed launch date of June 27 and instead aiming for a July launch.
The MGC rescheduled the sportsbook’s certification of compliance meeting to July 1. Bally Bet previously intended to have its compliance meeting on June 27 and launch on the same day, so this would be a possible chain of events to take place on July 1.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Jordan Maynard, the interim chair of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, said Bally Bet had outstanding issues to address prior to going live in Massachusetts.
Bally’s has been trying to launch its sportsbook in the Massachusetts market since receiving a Category 3 sports betting license in January 2023. However, after not launching within a year of its license being issued, the operator had to pay a $1 million fee to renew its license in January.
While Bally Bet has yet to launch in the Bay State, the operator is one of seven sportsbooks that has announced it will attend a roundtable meeting on Aug. 1 with the MGC to discuss applying betting limits to players.
