In a Massachusetts Gaming Commission meeting on Thursday, betting operator Bally Bet shared its plans to launch its sportsbook by the end of June.

Bally got its Massachusetts operator license in January 2023, but the company said it wasn’t prepared to launch its sportsbook. The company renewed its expired $1 million license in January.

Bally Bet still has to complete various regulatory audits, including equipment checks, and get final approval for internal controls and processes. Bally’s Chief Operating Officer Brett Calapp said he doesn’t see significant roadblocks that will delay the planned launch in June.

“We’re really excited to be in the state. This is a state with such a rich sports history,” Calapp said.

Bally Bet will be the seventh mobile sportsbook app available to Massachusetts bettors, joining BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPN Bet, Fanatics Sportsbook and DraftKings. Betr and WynnBET, exited the Massachusetts market this year, and before that, bet365 withdrew its application for a mobile betting license.

“The eagerness comes out of the fact that we believe that to stamp out the illegal market and give people the protections that Massachusetts provides, it’s good to have options,” said Jordan Maynard, interim chairman of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. “Having someone that we’ve started with the licensing process, a group come in and actually get going, is exciting to us.”
