For the seventh year, Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland is set to host the Maryland State Poker Championship. This year’s 22-event tournament series will run from August 27 through September 8.
This year’s series promised more than $1.1 million in guaranteed prize pools, with events in several disciplines, including Texas Hold’em, Omaha and 7-card stud. Featured events include the Main Event, which has a $2,200 buy-in and a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool and the Labor Day One-Day Event, with a $500 buy-in and a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.
“Last year, the tournament consisted of only 18 events and over $1.6 million was paid out, which was $500,000 over the guarantees,” Christopher Angelo, Director of Poker at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland said. “This year, with more events than ever before featuring more game variants and special events like the special one-day Labor Day holiday event, we hope to offer new and returning participants even more reasons to play. With expectations of even larger payouts than last year, this tournament series promises to showcase the best competition in the state at one of the nation’s premier poker rooms.”
The series will take place in Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland’s two-story poker room, which includes 50 tables, a private bar and on-site masseuses.
