A tough comparison to the first full-month operations of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge and a continued drop in sea arrivals caused Macau visitation to drop 10.9% to 2,910,118 in November.

Inaugurated October 23, 2018, the HZMB saw its first full month of operations in November 2018. The US$19 billion investment is a tourism draw in itself as travelers traverse the longest bridge in the world. 435,000 crossed the bridge to Macau in the first full month of operation. November 2019, one year later, 350,259 arrived at the bridge’s Macau border – a nearly 20% drop.

Arrivals at the main border gate dropped 3.3% to 1,610,968. Ferry arrivals continued to plummet, falling 39% to 413,775. This means over 260,000 fewer people arrived via sea, reflecting changing travel preferences. Air arrivals rose 16.7% to 318,255.
