Boyd Gaming and Yates Construction Company held the traditional topping-off ceremony to place the final steel beam on the Treasure Chest Casino’s new land-based site in Kenner, Louisiana. Representatives from the construction team and the casino signed the final beam, then adorned it with an American flag and Christmas Tree before it was hoisted to its final location.
The expansion project, which started in early 2023, is one of the first floating casinos to relocate their main facility after a 2018 change in state law that allowed riverboat casinos to move their locations onshore.
Scheduled to open in spring 2024, the $100 million expansion project will bring the gaming experience to land, all on a single-level 47,000-square-foot floor. The new casino will feature several new restaurants and bars, nearly 10,000 square feet of convention and meeting space, a FanDuel-branded sportsbook, and ample parking directly adjacent to the entrance.
“Today’s topping-off ceremony represents a milestone for Boyd Gaming and Treasure Chest Casino after nearly 30 years of operation,” said Kim Etland, vice president and general manager of Treasure Chest. “Our transition to a land-based casino reinforces our commitment to the city of Kenner, our employees, and our patrons.”
