Louisiana: New casinos help boost statewide revenue up 9.8% year-over-year in December

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board reported revenue of $223.3 million from the state’s casinos in December, up 9.8% year-over-year, boosted in part by Bally’s Baton Rouge – previously the Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat – opening in a land-side locale and Live! Casino Louisiana opening in Bossier City. Combined, the two casinos added $15.1 million in new revenue to the state.

December sports betting revenue was $63 million from a handle of $398 million.

Lake Charles led all Louisiana districts with revenue of $78.8 million, a year-over-year increase of 7.5%. Golden Nugget Lake Charles collected revenue of $28.8 million, up 4.9%; L’Auberge Du Lac generated $28.1 million, up 10.2%; and Delta Downs posted revenue of $14.3 million, up 7.4%.

Shreveport/Bossier City operators reported revenue of $56.2 million, up 16.3%. Horseshoe Shreveport reported revenue of $14.1 million, up 7.2%; Margaritaville Resort Casino posted revenue of $13.5 million, down 14.4%; and Live! Casino Louisiana posted $12 million after not being open the previous year.

New Orleans district properties reported revenue of $56 million, up 5.3%. Caesars New Orleans brought in $28.6 million, up 12.7%; Treasure Chest generated $13 million, an increase of 7.3%; and Boomtown Casino & Hotel reported revenue of $8.6 million, down 11.2 %.

The Baton Rouge district’s $25.7 million was an increase of 16.6%. L’Auberge Baton Rouge posted $14.3 million, up 2%; The Queen of Baton Rouge generated $7.6 million, up 2.7%; and new land-based Bally’s Baton Rouge was up 481.2%. Evangeline Downs generated $6.6 million, up 0.2%.
