Louisiana casinos generated $177.7 million in gaming revenue in May, a 5.8% decrease from April’s $188.0 million.
Riverboat casinos accounted for $156.9 million of the gaming; in April, riverboat properties generated $161.1 million, a 2.7% difference. Louisiana’s lone land-based property, Harrah’s New Orleans, generated $20.8 million, a decline of 22.7% from the previous month’s $26.9 million.
Regionally, the Lake Charles district properties – Isle of Capri Lake Charles, L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, and Golden Nugget Lake Charles – brought in $59.9 million in revenue. That’s a slight decline of 0.3% from April’s $60.1 million. L’Auberge was the region’s leading revenue generator with $30.6 million, followed by Golden Nugget with $29.3 million. Isle of Capri remains closed.
The six properties comprising the Shreveport/Bossier region accumulated $51.2 million in gaming revenue, a drop of 1.9% compared to April revenue of $52.2 million. Margaritaville Resort Casino generated $18.5 million, Horseshoe Bossier City brought in $15.6 million, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel totaled $8.6 million.
The trio of New Orleans riverboat casinos were responsible for $23.6 million in total gaming revenue, with Boomtown Casino & Hotel generating $11.8 million, the Treasure Chest Casino $8.6 million, and the Amelia Belle $3.2 million. May revenue declined 7.8% from April’s $25.5 million.
Baton Rouge’s casinos generated $22.3 million in gaming revenue, a decrease of 4.2% from April’s $23.3 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel earned $15.6 million, Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge $5.4 million, and Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel, $1.3 million.
