Louisiana: March gaming revenue shows slight year-over-year growth

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board Monday reported gaming revenue of $220.7 million in March, a year-over-year increase of 1%. The only gaming district to suffer a decline in revenue was Shreveport/Bossier, which suffered a 5.4% decrease compared to March 2023.

Online sports betting revenue was $35.5 million, a 23% year-over-year increase, from a handle of $319.0 million, a 43% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Retail sports revenue had a handle of $30.6 million, yielding revenue of $2.1 million.

Lake Charles properties led all Louisiana districts with $88.5 million in gaming revenue for the month, a 2.2% increase. L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles generated $31.0 million, with Golden Nugget Lake Charles bringing in $29.6 million, followed by Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel with $16.4 million and Horseshoe Lake Charles $8.5 million.

Shreveport/Bossier district properties yielded revenue of $53.9 million, despite the 5.4% year-over-year decrease. Margaritaville Resort Casino posted revenue of $18.2 million, Horseshoe Bossier City reported $11.6 million in revenue, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel generated $10.1 million.

New Orleans district operators generated revenue of $48.9 million, a year-over-year increase of 3.3% compared to the $47.73 brought in during February 2023. Harrah’s New Orleans reported revenue of $22.2 million, Boomtown Casino & Hotel brought in $11.5 million, and Treasure Chest Casino had revenue of $7.9 million.

The Baton Rouge district revenue increased 6.1%, resulting in March revenue of $25.4 million. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $16.1 million, the Queen of Baton Rouge generated $8.5 million, and the Belle of Baton Rouge reported revenue of $0.8 million.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated $7.0 million, a year-over-year increase of 7.6%.
