Louisiana: Gaming revenue tops $193 million in February, slight decrease from 2022

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board Monday reported revenue of $193.2 million for February, a decrease of 1.9% from the revenue generated in February 2022.

The February revenue generated by the state’s riverboat casinos and Harrah’s New Orleans, the state’s only commercial land-based casino, was a modest increase from the $193.0 million brought in January 2023.

Sports betting generated revenue of $23.3 million on a handle of $198.0 million. Online sports betting was responsible for a revenue of $21.8 million from a $176.0 million handle. Retail sports betting revenue was $1.5 million with a handle of $22.0 million.

Lake Charles properties led Louisiana districts with $73.1 million in total revenue, a 6.3% increase over the previous year. Golden Nugget Lake Charles brought in $25.6 million in revenue, followed by L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles with $25.2 million. Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel generated revenue of $13.8 million. Horseshoe Lake Charles, formerly Isle of Capri Lake Charles, brought in $8.5 million.

Shreveport/Bossier properties produced revenue of $47.6 million, a year over year decrease of -7.3%  and almost $2 million more than New Orleans properties, which generated $45.7 million, a year over year drop of -3.3%.

In Shreveport/Bossier, Margaritaville Resort Casino generated $16.5 million, Horseshoe Bossier City reported $10.8 million, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel totaled $9.35 million.

Harrah’s New Orleans led New Orleans properties with revenue of $20.1 million, followed by Boomtown Casino & Hotel with $10.4 million, and Treasure Chest Casino with $6.9 million for the month.

Properties in Baton Rouge generated $20.6 million in gaming revenue, a year over year decrease of -11.1%. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $15.3 million, Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge generated $3.7 million, and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel, $1.1 million.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated revenue of $6.4 million, a decrease of 3.9% from February 2022.
