Loto-Québec posted increases in both total revenues and net income, according to its Q2 fiscal 2024-2025 report released yesterday.

The crown corporation generated $814.2 million in total revenue in the second quarter (June 25 to Sept. 30), a 16.1% year-over-year increase from Q2 2023, and a net income of $421.6 million, an 18.5% increase.

“If we’re in such a good position halfway through the fiscal year, it’s thanks to the work done across all our sectors over the last few months,” said says Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of Loto-Québec. “We obtained excellent results despite the economic context, reinforcing our confidence that we’ll reach our net income annual target. Remember that 100% of our profits are reinvested in the community.”

Overall, for the six-month period from April 1 to Sept. 30, total revenue reached $1.504 billion (a 6.5% increase), with net income of $771.3 million (up 4.7%).

From April 1 to Sept. 30, the lottery sector saw revenue totaling $474.2 million, casino and gaming-hall revenue was $608.9 million, and gaming-establishment sector revenue was $432.5 million.

Highlights for Loto-Québec in Q2 included a re-launch of its responsible gambling website in September, called Wise Play, which includes educative content on how to gamble and ways of getting help if a player loses control.

“Responsible commercialization has remained a priority in everything we offer,” said Bergeron.

The lottery saw 28 new millionaires in Q2, bringing the total so far this fiscal year in the province to 50.

Also, a new 200-room hotel next to the Casino de Montreal is currently under construction, which Bergeron says will make it an even more prime entertainment destination.
