The opening date for the new $1 billion Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto has been set for June 20 at 5 p.m. The company made the announcement earlier today.
The new resort will encompass 328,000 square feet of gaming space, including over 4,800 slot machines and 145 table games. Once opened, it will be the largest casino in Canada and one of the largest in North America.
“Our new casino will open on June 20. With meticulous attention to detail, state-of-the-art amenities, and a commitment to guest experiences, our landmark entertainment resort is a game-changer in Toronto,” said Matthew Anfinson, CEO, Great Canadian Entertainment.
The casino is adjacent to Woodbine Racetrack, near the interchange of Highways 401 and 427, a Vegas-style entertainment-resort that will also feature a 400-room hotel, 5,000-seat entertainment space, and a selection of restaurants. Great Canadian Entertainment last week announced a deal with Live Nation to bring in big names in music and comedy to the new Toronto facility.
With the investment of $1 billion, the new casino will generate more than $500 million in economic impact for the region, according to a statement by Great Canadian Entertainment.
The company recently opened its new $500 million Pickering Casino Resort as well. That resort features a 96,000-square-foot casino, more than 2,000 slot machines, 90 table games, the Great Canadian Sportsbook, a dedicated lounge where fans can watch their favorite teams, and a 275-room hotel that includes a wellness center with wave pool, sauna and fitness facility, and nine dining venues.
Great Canadian Entertainment is a gaming and hospitality company with 25 facilities in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
