The Las Vegas airport Tuesday reported a decline in travel in March and a downward trend for the year, reversing the growth that followed the pandemic.

Harry Reid International handled 4.84 million passengers in March, down 3.9% from 5.04 million in March 2024. For the year, passenger counts are down 3.7%.

Domestic travel has been hurt the most so far by being down 4.3% in March and the same amount for the year.

International travel was only down 0.5% for March compared to a year ago and is up 4.9% for the year, aided by CES in January.

In the closely watched Canadian and Mexican markets, Air Canada fell 5.9% year-over-year, while Aeromexico fell 17.9%. Canadian-based Flair Airlines fell 62% and WestJet fell 14.5%.

Canada-based Porter Airlines, however, saw a gain of about 15,000 passengers year-over-year, having begun service from Toronto in March 2024 and expanding to Ottawa and Montreal later in the year.

The big gainer of the month was Korean Airlines, up 42%.
