After eight years, the world’s first Nobu hotel is getting a makeover.

Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace Monday announced a multi-million dollar “refresh” of its 182 guest rooms and public areas. Nobu Hospitality is a global lifestyle brand founded by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert DeNiro, and Meir Teper, a film producer. The trio has opened 13 hotels across the world, featuring Nobu food experiences, products and services.

“Eight years ago, we developed the world’s first celebrity chef-branded hotel venture with Nobu Hospitality, bringing Nobu’s signature style and sophistication to the Las Vegas Strip,” said Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace General Manager Martha Morales in a statement. “As the city continues to evolve as one of the top destinations for entertainment, sports and gaming, we are committed to investing in Las Vegas.”

Global architecture and design firm Rockwell Group has been hired to execute the refresh, which will feature a more modern, residential feel. Drawing from kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold epoxy, the Rockwell Group will create “a streamlined, lighter and more luxe take on the original design concept,” according to a statement by issued Caesars.

The focus of the new design will be custom sofas in each room, featuring patch-worked upholsteries from “painterly-style prints to muted textured graphics.” Each room also will feature a quartzite coffee table using the kintsugi effect, additional lighting, and a new custom carpet with aubergine hues inspired by 19th Century Japanese artist Tsubaki Chinzan, overlaid with gold kintsugi veining.

The rooms will also have new furniture, rugs, and flooring. Guest corridors and the lobby also will feature new carpeting.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
