Las Vegas-based gaming attorney Erica Okerberg is one of three lawyers with the national Greenberg Traurig law firm who has been named one of the American Bar Association’s “On the Rise – Top 40 young Lawyers.”

The award recognizes “young lawyer members who exemplify a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service.”

Okerberg, an associate in the firm’s Las Vegas office, has focused on gaming law, including licensing and regulatory work, and promotional law, including sweepstakes and social gaming. She has assisted both U.S. and international clients with regulatory and operational matters and gaming applications and researched legalized sports wagering and anti-gambling laws in order to advise clients on those topics.

“Erica joined us right out of law school and has developed into one of our finest senior associates,” said Michael Bonner, managing shareholder for Greenberg Traurig’s Las Vegas office. “(The firm) is committed to developing great lawyers, and Erica is an example of this as she has become an expert in gaming law. We are incredibly proud of Erica’s achievements and that the ABA has recognized her on a national level — a recognition that she truly deserves and that speaks volumes of her determination to be the very best for her clients.”

Okerberg graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2013 with her Juris Doctor. While in school, she served as the editor-in-chief of the UNLV Gaming Law Journal. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 2010.

Also honored with the ABA’s “On the Rise” award from Greenberg Traurig were Adelaida Vasquez Mihu, a shareholder in the Houston office, who focuses her practice on international compliance matters; and Vishesh Narayen, who is of counsel in the firm’s Tampa office and focuses his practice on complex patent and intellectual property litigation.

“We are incredibly proud of the achievements of Adelaida, Vishesh, and Erica,” said Brad D. Kaufman, co-president of Greenberg Traurig. “This recognition is well-deserved and speaks volumes to their successful practices, resulting from hard work and determination to be the very best for their clients.”
