The Kansas Lottery’s revenue report for April shows that the Sunflower State collected $192 million in wagers, a decline from previous months but a 44.5 percent increase from April last year.
Among the six operators in the state, three reported net revenue. DraftKings took the top spot with $5.1 million in revenue from a $84.3 million handle. FanDuel followed, generating $4.9 million in revenue from a $60.7 million handle, while Caesars collected $0.28 million in revenue from a $6.6 million handle.
The other three operators used the state’s net carryover deduction regulation to reduce their tax liabilities, which is why they did not report a net revenue. ESPN Bet collected a handle of $13.9 million, BetMGM recorded $13.7 million and Fanatics’ handle was $6.4 million.
BetMGM recorded the biggest drop in handle month-over-month, compared with $43,6 million in March, while Fanatics reported the largest relative increase in handle. Fanatics launched its Kansas sportsbook at the end of March. Still, Fanatics didn’t report any revenue in Kansas for April.
The sportsbooks’ hold percentage was 9.4 percent in April, up from 6.7 percent in March. Net revenue rose to $10.4 million, with $1 million allocated to state tax.
April marked the first month that Kansas Crossing Casino’s online sportsbook began operating as Fanatics after rebranding from PointsBet after the completion of a $225 million acquisition on April 4. All account balances and wagers placed on PointsBet before the rebranding were carried over to Fanatics.
