Iowa casinos generated $136.9 million in revenue in June, down 2.7% from the $140.7 million collected in June 2024.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission report shows that 11 of the state’s 19 casinos posted revenues lower in June than a year ago. Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino generated the most revenue, bringing in $19.2 million, which was 0.3% lower than the previous year.
Horseshoe Council Bluffs was the casino with the second-highest revenue in June, but that was also a drop of 9.5% year over year.
The casino with the most significant revenue difference year over year was Ameristar II, where revenues fell by around 14% from $15.5 million to $13.4 million. Riverside Casino and Golf Resort also posted a steep decline of 11.3% year over year, dropping to $10 million.
Some casinos grew revenues, most notably Diamond Jo Worth, whose revenues jumped by 16.5% year over year. No other casino posted revenue increases of more than 10%.
Table games statewide generated $12.8 million in revenue for June, while slot machines saw $124.1 million in revenue, both showing modest declines from last June. The Iowa casino landscape may be set for a change after a judge ruled that a proposed Cedar Rapids casino can move forward.
