Illinois casinos generated $167.5 million in adjusted gross revenue receipts in July, a 23.3% increase compared to the $135.8 million reported at the same point last year helped by expansions at casinos.
The figures, reported by the Illinois Gaming Board, show that Rivers Casino maintained its position as the state’s top revenue generator, earning $44.1 million, up 6.2% year-over-year.
Hard Rock Casino Rockford also reported substantial year-over-year growth, increasing its revenues to $12.8 million, a rise aided by its larger square footage after a $300 million redevelopment of the facility, completed in August. Wind Creek Casino in the Chicago suburbs also posted substantial gains, increasing its revenues by 38.1% to $18.8 million.
Hollywood Casino Joliet experienced the state’s largest decline, with AGR falling 43.8% from July 2024 to $4.1 million as it prepared to move to a land-based venue. Bally’s Chicago also saw a slight dip of 1.3% to $10.5 million.
Electronic gaming devices accounted for $127.6 million, up from $105.2 million the year prior. Table games’ AGR was also up last month, rising from $30.6 million to $39.9 million year-over-year.
July is the second straight month in which casino revenues have risen. In June, the state reported a 15.1% year-on-year increase, with $159.1 million in revenue reported across the state’s gambling facilities.
