International Game Technology and William Hill US expanded their sports betting operation in Rhode Island at the Twin River Casino Hotel, opening the Sportsbook Bar & Grill.
The new venue features more than 100 high-definition televisions showing live sporting events and offering wagering odds.
In August, the Rhode Island Lottery selected IGT and William Hill to be the sports betting service provider at the state’s licensed video lottery and table gaming establishments. A month later, IGT and William Hill announced a multi-year agreement to offer U.S. lotteries a full-service sports betting product.
IGT provides PlayShot, a sports betting platform. William Hill provides odds making services and risk management. IGT and William Hill also provide sports betting at Tiverton Casino Hotel, which began accepting bets on Dec. 3. Twin River Casino Hotel started accepting bets from a temporary space on Nov. 26 prior to the opening of the Sportsbook Bar & Grill.
William Hill US CEO Joe Asher said Twin River’s temporary facility had long lines.
“We are glad the permanent sports book is now ready,” Asher said.
Asher said William Hill is the only sports book to operate or provide services in all seven states that have authorized sports betting, with Rhode Island joining Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Enrico Drago, senior vice President of IGT PlayDigital, said PlayShot has processed more than $1 billion through multiple locations in five U.S. states.
“We look forward to further promoting the advantages of this innovative digital platform as sports betting continues its expansion across the country,” he said.
