Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel’s Circling Raven golf course was ranked as Idaho’s top public golf course by Golf Digest. In “America’s Greatest Courses by State, 2025-26,” Golf Digest also ranked Circling Raven as the No. 6 course in the state.
The top five courses are private.
Golf Digest panelists played and scored courses on eight criteria: Shot options, challenge, layout variety, distinctiveness, aesthetics, conditioning, and character.
“We work tirelessly to ensure that Circling Raven is an exceptional amenity of Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel, and we are constantly enhancing the course and golf club,” resort CEO Laura Penney said in a news release. “This honor from Golf Digest reinforces that our best practices are well designed and executed.”
The Gene Bates-designed championship golf course is owned by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, which also owns the casino resort. Director of Golf Don Rasmussen, PGA, and Superintendent Kal Zaranec oversee operations and course conditions.
Located in the Idaho panhandle, Circling Raven sits on 620 acres of Palouse Region terrain. Named for a tribal chief, the course sits amid woodlands, wetlands, and wildlife, and includes eagles and moose.
In addition to being rated No. 1 public course in Idaho, the course is ranked among the country’s best in Resort Course, Casino Course and Pro Shop categories.
About 50 minutes from Spokane International Airport, Circling Raven measures 7,189 yards from the rear tee boxes.
