The International Center for Responsible Gaming Tuesday announced the relaunch of CollegeGambling.org, a website that first debuted in 2011. The site, updated to meet modern digital standards, will provide information and resources on responsible gambling for students who are legally able to gamble.

“Our commitment to responsible gaming extends to college campuses, where students are shaping their futures,” said ICRG President Arthur Paikowsky in a statement. “With the right information and support, every student can make informed decisions about gambling.”

The website provides information including:

  • What You Can Do: Actionable steps and guidance to address gambling issues.
  • Facts and Stats: New data, research findings, and resources to help identify and support students struggling with gambling problems.
  • For Campus Health Professionals: Information and tools to identify and assist students facing gambling addiction.
  • For University Administrators: Assisting in implementing policies and raising awareness of responsible gambling practices.
  • For Students: Information about gambling and gambling disorders, signs of potential problems, where to find help, and ways to promote awareness on campus.
  • For Parents: How to start conversations about responsible gambling with students going to college,  encouraging involvement in addressing this issue on campus.

According to the ICRG, recent research shows that 6% of college students in the U.S. struggle with a severe gambling problem that leads to psychological distress, unmanageable debt, and academic challenges. College-aged individuals also are more prone to impulsive behavior and at a higher risk of developing gambling disorders than adults. Students with gambling problems are more likely to engage in other risky behaviors, including substance abuse, impaired driving, and poor academic performance.
