Sports betting technology company Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) has published a responsible gambling article to mark the beginning of Responsible Gaming Education Month this month.

Dan Trolaro, the Co-Managing Director of Education and Training at IC360, highlights three ways people can support responsible habits in their loved ones, including open communication, boundary setting and trying out alternative activities.

“Your support can make a significant difference in preventing gambling from becoming a problem,” Trolaro wrote in the publication.

The article suggests starting conversations with loved ones about gambling and its risks as a way to reduce stigma and position yourself as a trusted person that your loved ones can confide in.

The second suggestion is to encourage the use of responsible gambling tools, such as deposit limits, session limits and self-exclusion, offered at many online sports betting sites.

“Helping them create a budget or a time management plan is the key to ensuring that gambling remains a form of entertainment not impacting the individual’s emotional, relational, mental or financial wellbeing,” the article said.

IC360 finally recommends suggesting alternative hobbies, such as playing sports or reading, to stop reliance on the behavior pattern.

The American Gaming Association created RGEM in 1998. It was originally celebrated as Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW) before being extended in 2022.
